    After three years of preparation, the Kayser Italia staff at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Inner Mongolia – China. has completed its activity on SIMBOX, an incubator of 25 Kg with nearly 40 biology experiment units.

    The SIMBOX facility has been launched aboard Shenzhou 8 capsule with a Long March rocket on 31 October.
    The Kayser Italia responsibility , in the frame of a contract of the German Space Agency DLR via ASTRIUM Prime-contractorship, has been on the entire avionic system, the centrifuge controller, the SW, the EGSE, and the satellite interface BUS (Power, TM, TC).

    The Kayser Italia personnel is also supporting ASTRIUM during the in-flight operations.
    According to the telemetry data received by the Kayser Italia staff in Bejing, the SIMBOX is in nominal conditions. At L+48H the ground control experiment also started.

    As an Italian SME , we are proud of this achievement that represent our 51st participation (the 50th was STS134) to a space mission, and the first international co-operation of the China Manned Space Engineering Office (CMSEO).

    These results have been possible due to a long-standing cooperation with ASTRIUM since 1988, to the passion and dedication of our personnel, to the high level of specialization and at same time a system approach which is not common to be found in a SME, and also to the continuous support on related Life Sciences programs from our national agency (ASI).
